Busia County drama festivals are ongoing at Kolanya Girls National school. Sub-County champs are converging to compete, as the judges select the best to represent the county in the regional competitions.

For the 7th year in a row, the festivals are proudly sponsored by Ababu Namwamba Foundation, a three dimensional NGO focused on economic empowerment of communities, education and mentorship as well as talent development.

The festivals will end on Saturday March 7th and the closing and awards ceremony will be presided by Foreign Affairs CAS Hon. Ababu Namwamba, who is also the foundation’s patron. Mentors from the foundation will also conduct a mentorship and peer counselling session at the school prior to the closure.

Last year’s edition of the festivals were held at Kisoko Secondary school in Nambale Sub-County and was officiated by top officials from the Ababu Namwamba Foundation alongside  County education officials.

During the award ceremony last year, the County Director of Education who was represented by the CQASO Mr. Makori, thanked the Ababu Namwamba Foundation for their long partnership, which has helped fill the underfunding gap by the Ministry of Education on extra-curricular activities.

The theme of this year’s drama festivals is “Promoting moral responsibility in the society through theatre and film.’
