Sirimba dispensary is among the beneficiaries of the Safaricom Foundation funding for community projects under the Ndoto Zetu, Uwezo wetu initiative.
The hospital was constructed purposely for outpatient procedures but had been forced to offer maternal services to the locals due to long distances to other hospitals offering deliveries.
The management had to use one examination room for deliveries until a lady from the community, Ms. Salome Owuor, approached Safaricom Foundation to intervene.
The foundation has constructed and commissioned a whole maternity wing with three delivery couches and fully equipped maternal ward at the facility.
Speaking during the commissioning, the hospital management lauded Safaricom for the funding and said that it will help achieve zero maternal deaths. They urged residents to stop home deliveries and seek medical attention at the facility.
